[bug] Qtractor session save in Debian Buster

Benoît Rouits
Hello dear LA users,

I am currently learning Qtractor usage,
but i fail to save a session in version 0.8.3
of Qtractor: the program simply hangs and i have to
kill it manually... and the session is not saved.

Did any user around here have found a workaround ?
This is a serious bug, IMHO.

Debian bugtracker reports only one minor bug not
exactly bound to this problem.

Is there an unofficial deb repo of Qtractor i could test ?

Thank you for your replies,
 Benoît

Re: [bug] Qtractor session save in Debian Buster

Hi,

you at least could build qtractor from source, but finding out what's
going wrong might be more useful. Maybe there is some info what's going
wrong in ~/.xsession-errors , if not, you could run qtractor from
command line, to see if you get useful error messages.

There seems to be no package qtractor-dbg available for buster [1], so
if you should build qtractor, consider to build with debug symbols.

If you don't know how to build qtractor, you might get help here or at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/qtractor/lists/qtractor-devel .
However, first try to troubleshoot by taking a look at
~/.xsession-errors or much better, by opening a terminal and running it
from command line.

Just in case you shouldn't run an English environment, launch qtractor
like this

  LANG=C qtractor

to get English output, you could post to the mailing list.

Regards,
Ralf

Actually it only seems to be available for wheezy:

maybe this one?
  http://www.rncbc.org/drupal/node/1838
the issue seems to relate to (in)direct linkage to gtk+ style resources,
most incidentally gnome based desktop environments.
the options has been set off by default for quite some time now.

Yay ! thank you for your help, this worked.
Disabling native widget resources allow "save/save as"
to work as actually expected!

Thanks Ralf for your help too, i confess i was a bit lazy today :-)
